It’s a well-known fact that completing a graduate course
in education is the basic qualification to get a good job in any organization. A professional qualification is all the more better. It’s inspiring to know that private sector has come of age in providing college education. A good number of middle class families are affording private education what with easy financing options at their disposal, higher education is a dream come true for many. More and more parents are sending their children to professional colleges located in various districts within the state. It is high aspirations for the students as well as their parents.
Once they are into college, the scenario has changed completely with ragging taking the lead and education relegated to the back seat. An anti-ragging act and disciplinary college committees in place are not able to curb the menace of ragging. The ugly face of ragging is taking its toll on the students’ lives, particularly the fresher. Unless the managements strictly enforce the rules, the fresher suffers in silence and when the torture becomes unbearable, they are taking the path to suicide. Ragging in the civilised world is the most contaminated act that needs to be condemned. It is a good move on the part of the police to intervene and set the house in order, and if necessary use of force to curb the menace should be welcome. At the grass roots level, medical counselling of these psychopaths would definitely help in curbing the menace.
