As a kid I would
read three differentr
newspapers that my father
used to subscribe to. These newspapers were the sole source of information for my father and a source of entertainment for me through the comic strips they carried and the various puzzles published from time to time. Enhancement of knowledge and information was the least of my worries at that stage of life.
I used to however, read through the pages and look for language and spelling errors and wonder how such leading newspapers managed to make all those mistakes. I used to think of the newspapers as individuals (imaginations of a child) :), and I would be so amused at the thought of these
educated and knowledgeable individual making such silly
mistakes that I as a primary school student could detect.
As time passed and I aged along, I
witnessed the
changes around the world, subtle in the beginning and forcefull as science and technology improved. I also witnessed the changes in the newspapers and their style and design, their language, their size and even the way they were sold and distributed. The general public was now choosy about quality and price. The world now wanted to read a paper that would give the correct
News and quickly. Coverage of not only the local news but the world in general and news about every aspect of life was looked for. Different ways of acquiring knowledge of the day to day happennings were required and the newspaper that would provide the best and the most was opted for.
The
Times Of India today is the newspaper that is enjoying the best readership as it covers the entire nation in terms of circulation and is popular more for its effective delivery of news on time added with the extra features of financial news and status, entertainment, and accessibility over the net etc. One word of advice to the publishers however is that they look into the correctness of language and spellings ;) Thay are still making the age old mistakes however few and far between.
