Since its
publication, the Indonesian version of the Playboy
magazine has raised so many pros and cons thatmany people do
not care in the least. Possibly I include just the usual thing that is neither for or against. When I hear reasons fromthose who opposethe contents of this
magazine as they arenot in accordance with the standards of the Indonesian people, I finally look at the contents of this magazine, and I don't see anything whatsoever that contravenes these standards. If only we are able to adopt asensible attitude and recall that the Indonesian Playboy magazine was recently published in 2005 but try to see the newspapers which appeared far from the beginning (I am not able to mention the name of the newspaper) which moreover revealed pictures which were far 'hotter' than those in the playboy magazine,and so why does society remain quiet? It is possiblethat certain sections of societythink about themselves too much so that when a magazine appears that is called Playboy, they immediately protest without looking first at the evidence, only because theaforementioned magazine is a very vulgar magazine in America and Europe but that does not mean it has to be so in Indonesia. Then whydo they remain quiet when more vulgar newpapers appear?In fact,asociety such as this enjoys these newspapersas evidenced by the factthat the sale of these newspapers is high. It is possible that at this moment we must re-examine every problem well, and not raise new problems again.How good it will be when society throws away their hypocritcal and egotistic attitude so that our country can continue to develop.This does not mean that we don't care whatsoever, but we do care aboutissues which should be cared about, and not just problems whichhave little importance. The actions of society to boycott the
publication of the playboy magazine and moreover intend to destroy the publication office really only damage themselves and the country. The decision of the publisher to relocate the office to Bali is a sensible decision, because althoughstill in Indonesia, the people of the island of Bali are more tolerant. The harmonious style of life in Bali is an example for other islands in Indonesia so thatthe influx of foreign currency may increasebecausetourists feel safe togoto other parts of Indonesia and not just Bali.
