Eliezer Rabukhin.. “Vesti”. September.14. 2006. Application “Vesti -2”. Resume. Author of the resume: Mikemar. September 23. 2006. Category: Tradition. Article is dedicated to the explanation of the special features of Jewish calendar. Jewish calendar -
lunar. At its basis is lunar month and lunar
year. Year includes 12
months:
(30 days), - (29 or 30), (29 or 30), (29), (30), < adar> (29), (30), (29), (30), (29), (30), (29). In the leap year is added the thirteenth month, which is called adar aleph (30 days). It follows the month shvat. In this case the previous month adar stays but is called no longer simply adar, but adar beta, that follows the month adar aleph. . The additional month adar aleph is introduced in order to liquidate the divergence between the actual length of lunar month (29 days, 12 hours 793 the so-called kheleks- parts) and that accepted in the calendar (29 or 30 days). On khelek has a duration of approximately 3,3 seconds. Lunar year lasts 354 days, 8 hours and 876 kheleks. It is shorter than the solar year almost on 11 days. The agreement of lunar and solar calendars is produced, on the basis of the fact that 19 years on the solar calendar are equal to 235 lunar months. For achievement this equality it is in practice accepted that in the 19-year period of time on the Jewish calendar 12 years they are usual, on 12 months, and 7 years - bissextile, on 13 months. The third, sixth, eighth, eleventh, fourteenth, seventeenth and nineteenth months are bissextile in the 19-year cycle. The moment of the end of the sunset of the previous day is considered as the beginning of the next day on the Jewish calendar. Counting of the years is on the basis of the fact that as the initial date is considered 3761-sth year to our era. Therefore for the transfer of the dates of Gregorian calendar into the Jewish to the number of years on the Gregorian calendar is added number 3760 (from 1 January to 29 elul) or 3761 (from 1 tishrej until 31 December). Author in his article puts also the information about the Jewish holidays, note of Saturdays and other traditions in the tying to the dates of the Jewish calendar.
