The main headline in The Star
today once again focuses on the issue of the appointment of the Chief Ministers int the
state of Perak, Terengganu and Perlis.
In Perlis, the issue hinges on the Sultan of Perlis'' decision to request for a
new Cief Minister. The Prime Minister has already given consent to the previous Chief Minister of Perlis, Dato'' Seri Shahidan Kassim to form the state
government. However, the Sultan of Perlis has other ideas and has given consent to assemblyman Datuk Dr Md Isa Sabu to form the new state government and he is
expected to be sworn in someime today.
In Terengganu, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh is expected to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of the state tomorrow, while in Perak Mohammad Nazir Jamaluddin is expected to be sworn in as Chief Minister sometime today.
Another issue which is of importance is the announcement of the cabinet line up. Until today, the cabinet has yet to be formed. The Star reports that the cabinet line up shall be announced latest by tomorrow. The new cabinat is expected to be smaller compared to the previous cabinet. Some Deputy Ministers are expected to be promoted to the position of Minister. Among those expected to be promoted are Datuk Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamad and Datuk Shahziman Abu Mansor.
The plight of the Malaysian Chinese Association still remains to be a focus in The Star. The heavy losses suffered during the 12th General Election has caused a lot of tension within the party ranks. Today it is reported that the party shall remain untited behind their leader, Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting and that he has the full support of the grassroots in rebuilding the party.
Finally, another interesting article in The Star today reports the loss of official documents from the offices of the Kedah State Government. A police report shall be made on the loss of these documents unless the documents are returned to the new state government.
