Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., has built their latest model of fuel cells technology in the home of a businessman,
Masanori Maruse and it saves him some
10,000 yen a moth. His home is equipped with use of three TV sets, a washing machine, a dryer, a dishwasher, a air-conditioner, a refrigerator and a PC. At the same time, their backup will be the conventionally generated electricity should the fuel cell run low.
The Japanese government is setting aside some 32.4 billion yen a year for fuel cell development to implement on 10 million homes by year 2020.
While Toyota Motor Corp. is developing this fuel cell technology for their vehicles, Honda Motor is working with Plug Power Inc., which is US based. Both companies are keen to roll out their vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells which is conveniently refueled at home.
In due course of this action, this technology is saving the Earth in support to the global warming, which is getting worst each year. This is one of the mainstream of suppression on this big issue around the globe.
This fuel cell comes in a plain suitcase-sized box that sits next to a tank that turns out to be a water heater. In the process of producing power to the house, this unit produces enough warmth to generate heat for their water in the house.
While the hydrogen is extracted from natural gas by a reformer ( a device ), oxygen comes from the air. However, a byproduct in this cause of production is poisonous - carbon monoxide is generated. So, another device adds oxygen to it to produce carbon dioxide which in turn contributes to global warming, of which is NOT poisonous. A Marvelous idea that not only it helps the people but also in the environment.
So, this technology will save mother Earth eventually. Bravo to fuel cells tehnology !!
