Migration: A silent genocide

The editorial note is about the
situation in the US-Mexican
border. This is described as a mortal trap for thousands of
migrants.Following the Immigration Law Foundation (AILF) report the US
policy over the border with Mexico has a repressive and policed perspective. Migrants are criminalized and treated in consequence.
In order to avoid the dangerous conditions prevailed in the main cross spots, the migrants had move from urban cross points to those lost in the desert that let them more possibilities to cross but also higher risks. As a result, the US-Mexican border accounts today for more
deaths than those registered during 28 years of the Berlin Wall. The editorial note remarks that this situation is not exclusively a responsibility of the US
Migration policy and officials but also of the Mexican
government, which behind its inefficacy and poor policy stimulates the migration phenomena.
It is claimed that in recent years the number of deaths had increase. Smugglers, thieves, xenophobes, racist Americans and even border police had participate in the spiral of violence against illegal migrants that cross from Mexico.To complement this grim picture, the Mexican government seems to be unable to produce the jobs needed in the country to avoid the migration to the US. Furthermore, to keep a ‘good’ diplomatic relation with the US might also be consider one reason that explains the Mexican government passivity to engage the problem seriously.
In conclusion, the situation in the border is a challenge for both nations. However, the Mexican side keeps higher responsibility in solving the problem. On the one hand, Mexico needs to stop the many deaths in its border and on the other hand , Mexico needs to create the necessary economic development that stop forcing Mexican worker to find better jobs in the US.
