How Small Are We? To make the size of our uiverse understandable to the regular reader, a scientist once used the following simple model: let's take the sun which has a
diameter of 1.392.0000 kilometers and let's 'shrink' it as to having a diameter of 60cm. Now, let's take 82
steps and place a grain of pepper to be Mercurius. After another 60 steps we place a marble as to
represent Venus. From there we take 78 more steps and place not more than a
pee as to represent our own planet. Another 108 steps and we can place the top of a needle for Mars. Now take 780 steps more for Jupiter and place an orange and another 934 steps for Saturnus represented by a golfball. Now it becomes somewhat more difficult, since we would have to take 2.086 steps to represent Uranus with a small piece of marmer. After another 2.322 steps we picture Neptunus by means of a cherry. Finally, Pluto, the farrest
planet of our
solar system. If we wanted to represent this planet in our imaginary scale we would have to walk 10.000 km!!! And that would be the first star of all the other billions of stars more to come!!!When we realize the bigness of our solar system, it is almost unbelievable that the Creator of the whole universe would be interested in us, 'microscopic' little people, living on this tiny little 'pee'.What are men in your eyes? Also for us, God's preferred creatures have to be valuable.
