The write-up, entitled: Of OBJ, Nigerians and Chickens, was published on May 24, 2007 in the OP-ED page of the Nigerian Tribune. It is a parody of the eight years of former President Olusegun Obasanjo-led government in Nigeria.
The article compares the deplorable condition of the Nigerian
masses to the quantum leap in Obasanjo''s business empire, consisting of his commercial
farms scattered across the country. It contends that while masses of Nigeria have no access to portable water, and hence scoop
water from brooks near gutters, the
Chicken in Obasanjo''s farms not only have enought water to drink, such water is also vaccinated.
The write-up focuses on the basic human needs that elluded Nigeria, but which the former president and chicken farmer provided his
chicks adequately during the eight years. It uses the analogy of eko (corn meal), a staple food common among Nigerian masses, which it says went beyond the reach of Nigerians during Obasanjo''s tenure, but which raw material (corn) was abundantly available fo the former presidents poultry.
