Who are the lords of the press? I don't know how I'm going to begin or at least to express my point. On my own perception and understanding, Coronel pointed out that, the lords of the press are the
media owners, the governnment, the editors, down to the lowest ranking journalist.I implied that, accuracy, fairness, and truthfullness in journalism are now a matter of illussion, what I mean, in media bussiness where money is the bottom line( maybe a little moderate in a non-profit org ).
Media is a big bussiness. And where talking money here, not whatsoever heavenly matter.I remember a beautiful line from the mother of Prince Troy , in the koreanovela Princess Hour ,"Kung gusto mong makarating sa langit, daanin mo ang daan patungong impyerno". This is what I think really happen in the present, not only in the media.
I do not mean that media is bad. When God created everything here on earth,He saw that it were good, though I don't know if God also mean, it is right. It depends on the media practitioner.Ok,back to the topic,Media is a bussiness, and bussiness is utilitarianism( even in friendship, take care of those who have higher
net worth ), a matter of give and take. The people in the government takes care the media or should I say, taking care not to get a bad publicity by building friendship with them, by exercising their power or the worst, by giving an amount under the table. When the media (the owner) get a favor from the government they are obliged to do thesame. They are in bussiness, and can't blame them ( really? ),they have to be friendly or at least pretend that they are, to keep the
money in.
What is true, fair and accurate will always depend on who consume the media.Critical reading and analysis is undeniably necessary.Money,money,money.End of the story.
P.S. Think of conscience at the end, Am I going to Heaven?
I have a second thought if will still pursue my career in media.
