Antioxidants are protectors of healthy cells from damaging and it neutralize free radicals. The process of which prevents more harmful effects on our system.
Antioxidants consist of substances such as polyphenols, Vitamins A, C, and E. These are commonly available to some of our usual foods like fruits, vegetables, beans and grains. Coffee as a plant product is considered to have loads of antioxidants. In recent studies, even decaffeinated coffee has the same level source of antioxidants also found in caffeinated coffee.
Our body has natural antioxidants; but these are not enough to protect our system from contaminants that surround us particularly when we are aging. Our system consists of oxygen that releases natural by-products also known as free radicals and oxidants. These oxidants are affecting our healthy cells and turn to be one of the free radicals also.
To make a clear view of oxidation, an apple was used as an example. When an apple was left cut open, it will eventually turned brown, this shows that an oxidation is happening. A way to prevent an open apple from oxidation is exposing it to antioxidants such as juices rich in vitamin C.
Coffee is a top drink for all the people around the world. Everyday intake of it helps us in defending our system from free radicals. Coffee as an alternative antioxidant is good news for us since most of us would rather drink coffee than any other beverages. Studies also show that people’s coffee consumption is even higher compare to daily fruit and vegetables ingestion.
Intoxication of antioxidants in our body is also possible so it would always be advisable to take balance diet through healthy and natural foods.
