Computers in
Schools Computers are becoming more powerful and they don''t have to be big. In fact, the smaller ones now display more complicated and wider varieties of features. In the early 80''s computer lessons was not part of high school curriculum. That has changed because today most high schools have computer fundamentals as part of their curriculum. One survey in America revealed that 69 percent of personal computers are being used for games, 52 percent for schoolwork, 45 percent for office work at home, 31 percent for hobbies, and 26 percent for home business. In the Phillippines, on November 22, 1995 several schools made a dramatic shift from traditional to digital applications of library functions. These schools together with the Department of Science and Technology launched an on-line interconnection of databases of different schools,
colleges, and
universities'' academic
libraries. Internet is no doubt the world''s information channel which links to other agencies in other continents. Today big corporations not just these school libraries but banks and universities have mainframe that can cope with enormous loads of work. Thank you to the
modern Science.
