Suicide, a Self-Destruction “A gay owner of a beauty parlor at
East Rembo committed suicide the other day by hanging himself
inside his shop
in Makati City after learning that his lover had
eloped with a woman.” “Leslie, a young housewife ended
her life Sunday afternoon after attending mass by blasting her head with a .38
pistol inside the comfort room of her home.”
“A former call center agent, who
was laid off his job two weeks ago, killed himself by slashing his wrist inside
his rented room in Mandaluyong
City.”
These are just a few of the
everyday news about this growing
epidemic of suicide. Each of the above cases has its own reason
for committing suicide – from failures in finances and love, to lack of
understanding which they deem valid enough to quit this life.
Three basic factors contribute to
this growing epidemic. First, the blindness of man towards another followed by
some people who refuse to understand and chooses to ignore the needs of his
fellow. The last is the neglect of prayers
and getting involved in spiritual activities.
In order to fight this growing
epidemic, people should join hands together and pray, learn to give, to
understand, to care, to share love and affection, and open our minds and hearts
for better knowledge and wisdom. Let us
be more concern with one another.
