The
sail
-
boat
"Alexander Von Humboldt" was constructed in 1906, initially
the ship act as a lighthouse, anchored permanently and without ways of
propulsion that watched the German coast. The sail-boat "Alexander Von
Humboldt" yesterday broke of the
wharf
of
Ponta Delgada
route to the
port
of
Bremerhaven
, in
Germany
. On
board it take a crew of 55 elements of German nationality, that came to
substitute it previous crew. About 30% of the crew they had, never sailed in a
sail-boat of this spread, with
62 meters
length and build in 1906. During the winter,
the "Alex" for besides being a sail-boat-school, also covers the
Atlantic
as sail-boat cruise, as it was the case of the
stopping in São.Miguel, leading on board people whom one day they had always
desired to participate in an experience of these. As Ruth Kopka "we wanted
to come earlier to visit the
island
. We were here three days and,
already visited the island by car. “I find
that it is a true paradise ".
One
of the resident elements of the crew, Christian Mark, said
“we are to know that all the people who enter
an
adventure
of these for the Atlantic, on board the "Alex" also have
a function, they are not only to observe, each person must have a task, this
way it is
more rewarding. The resident
crew,
includes a doctor, an engineer,
the captain, among others professional of the sea ", salient Christian
Mark. The sail-boat "Alexander Von Humboldt" left the
Bremerhaven
port in May of 2007 for a trip for the
Atlantic
leading initially one Crew of 35 elements, in
the majority young that are learning the navigation arts. This equips was
substituted and returned yesterday to
Germany
. The sail-boat is part of a
project-school that teaches young, that can have regular lessons in the ships,
remaining for times six months in the ship and later they return to
Germany
to
finish the course. Questioned
about the
passage that a young has to have until arriving the post of Captain, Christian
Mark enhances that one of the aspects special of this sail-boat has to
see
with
the fact that the pupils when they enter in the sail-boat acquire much
experience. "The passage made for the inexperienced young until arriving
at the one of captain, has basically to see with the trips of long distance,
allied with a theoretical formation that they acquire in Germany", it
relates, adding "that in contrast of the English sail-boats that demand
qualification to initiate a trip, in this, you can enter without experience and
to reach one high platform of qualification". "the majority of the
elements of this new crew who entered, has in
Germany
its jobs and, do not have a continuous vacation time, had found for good to
make this stroll in this height to the long one of the
Atlantic
.
A trip divided in two or three great stopping’s so that the crew can be
changed, as happened in São. Miguel, then this was a regular stopping ",
according to marine. In this long trip until arriving at the
port
of
Ponta Delgada
,
the "Alex" covered the Mediterranean, South of America,
Bermuda
,
Spain
,
Portugal
(Horta and São.Miguel). After the departure of the Azorian port, the sail-boat
at this moment heads with destination
France
,
later will have one brief stopping in
Holland
and returns to our native country,
Germany
, where it will remain two
weeks for maintenance. For Christian Mark, the
island
of
São
.
Miguel is "a pearl in the ocean". "I find the island very
pretty. When a person goes in a maritime trip of long duration, where we pass
days, weeks without visualizing land and, therefore, to be in an island is a
very rich experience again ", concludes.
