Meet the man who claims to be the tallest man on this earth. His name is Azad Khan Masood, a 29-year old Pakistani, who hails
from Saraoogha in the North West Frontier province’s Dera Ismail Khan District, Pakistan. He is 7 feet 8 inches tall (225 centimeters) and weighs 330 pounds (150 kg) and sleeps in a 10-foot-long bed. His shalwar-kameez (distinctive Pakistani dress) made out of 16 meters of cloth, and wears world’s biggest pair of shoes — size 22. He has been unsuccessfully sending out messages for the last three years to find out if there is someone taller than he is but still no confirmation yet. He has also sent his claim to the Guinness Book of World Records and is awaiting their acknowledgment.
Masood comes from a poor family has no education. His parents, his four sisters and five brothers are of normal height. He, too had normal growth during his childhood, but from the age of 10 he started growing tall. But tallness has its downsides as well, he says. One of these is when he has to travel by car and he finds it is impossible to sit comfortably. He has been to UAE, Iran, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Spain, Germany, Italy, Turkey, the UK, the US and Canada. He says that peace is my mission and that’s what he advocates wherever he goes. He says that his height does attract a lot of attention but crowds of curious people don't annoy him at all. His favorite game is basketball and he would like to turn professional.
Channa, also a Pakistani, was mentioned as the tallest man in the world in the Guinness Book. Channa, who worked in PIA, underwent treatment for a kidney ailment at the New Jeddah Clinic Hospital before he died nearly three years ago in Pakistan.
