Coconut Diseases Spreads in Southern Province in SRI LANKA
The leaf rot diseas of cocount is
spreading all over southern sri lanka.First rot disease reported in 2000 from Weligama area.The
research institute found thet thedisease is caused by a complex of pathogenic fungy attacking the unopened bud leaves of the cocount crown.This disease spread during rainy season and reduce in dry season.The research
institute finding difficulty to control it due to high cost and unavalability climbers.Steps taken to identify to control the disease.If not we will losing coconut trees soon and affect the coconut business.
