Headlines in Southern Daily Echo amazed me: they read as follows:
FIRE AT HOME OF KEN RUSSELL
Ken Russell is a Film Director and is very famous for films throughout the last few decades - he is 78 years ago and was on his way back on foot from his local postoffice when he realised his house was on fire! It is thatched and his wife was safe which was a great relief to him! So far they havent discovered the cause of the fire!
Again as someone who underwent this type of tragedy fairly recently I understand his feelings - our whole row of houses went ON FIRE! I too, was grateful to the FIRE FIGHTERS for saving my life but the loss incurred was horrifying! I am still in a process of
recovery so I am
sure Ken Russell and his wife Lisi will take a little while to recover! Much of one's energy and life's work is invested in one's home - apparently Ken Russell was making films at his address which were released on the internet during the last year years! I am sure Ken Russell and his team will make a full recovery and so shall I!
To Timbuktu and back is an article about an explorer who has returned from an epic trek through the Sahara Desert (I was there too, in the
hot, hot, sun drinking Mint Tea with the Blue Men of the Saraha Desert) This gentleman's name is John Pilkington: John completed a 500mile solo crossing of the Himalayas in western Nepal, and he has retraced the
old Silk Road between China and Pakistan. John plans a series of fund raising lectures and his show "Heart of the Sahara" - will be shown at University of Winchester's Stripe Theatre - my old training
centre!!
Ground Breaking centre is closing - was named The Centre for the Third Age intended for the Elderley - due to lack of funds! Perhaps the elderly have something better to do - these questions remain unanswered.
