Thousands of east Lancs women took part in last week’s race for Life In Aid Of Cancer Research UK.
This year’s two races have been the best ever. In total about 3,000 women raised money for ‘Cancer Research UK by joining in the 10th annual event.
Mother and daughter Edwina and Ashleigh Ely from Foulridge ran in memory of Ashleigh’s nana who died of lung cancer four years ago.
Edwina, 50, is usually a volunteer first aider at the event at Witton Park, Blackburn, but was persuaded by Ashleigh, 15, to take part for the first time.
Samantha Smith, 34, from Burnley finished with 19 minutes without training. She was running with friend from Sure Start in memory of their friend who died of cancer aged 40.
Area event manager Jayne Leggat said: “There’s been a fantastic turnout. Its incredible how the event just gets better every year and the support we receive its fabulous.”
