Why do the british blame Tony Blair for the war in Iraq?
Blair took the step to do something about the horror, menace,
world threat and evil that was Saddam Hussein to the
people of Iraq and the world. The path chosen by Blair or Bush to go through solving the
problem is a completely
different story and a matter of opinion and I am not getting into it.
But the people who are guilty of evil doing is not Blair or Bush but Saddam in Iraq and the taliban in Afghanistan. They were basically killing and torturing innocent people in grotesque ways much before Blair decided to intervene. What is the alternative
solution to this problem? One may say
dialogue but how different is dialogue from 'sit and watch'.
Blair has chosen to take action rather than continous dialogue. Dialogue is actually easy, just like talk is cheap. Isnt it time we did something about tackling our world problems rather than world
leaders meeting for conferences now and then in different parts of the worlds to discuss issues that we all know exist, present figures and percentages and then leave.
The actions taken may not be the ideal solution and probably there isn't one. Good leaders are also human and bound to errors at times but would you rather have a talking 'no guts' leader who is safe dishing out the importance of dialogue or one who actually dares to act.
There is no perfect way to tackle a world problem, but do not put down someone for atleast trying.
