It was a cold windy morning in Southampton and I decided upon a brisk walk downtowntowards the water's edge. The
weather had been hotter than usual, and what withthe British Government's obsession with Weather I donned my alpine suit which I hadlast worn in Austria. I had taken a few days out from my busy schedule and gonefamily walking with my son in the Austrian Alps. Mind you I did look a bit"packed to brimming point" but nevertheless I was safe rather than sorry.Today was no exception and the weather was brisk and cold. I dropped in atCafe Parisienne downtown and found to my delight a copy of the FrenchNewspaper which I had been reading during my full time teaching schedulein Europe, ..... Le Monde.Having plodded through the webpages for 2 years on the history, career, and sex lifeof the former President Clinton's existing wife and partner Hillary Rodham Clinton,I was relieved to see that the French had found a new filly who plans on standing inplace of Chirac the present President of France. To all intents and purposesit seemed to me that I could not escape the female and this desire to takeover all
male jobs. Surely we would lose something or other in the chase to bethe man of the family of mankind or were we still proving old points thatour femininity wasnt to the satisfaction of society but the male would alwaysappear more attractive in any guise. Well, this French Lady albeitanonynously written about, seemed attractive at the outset. But our American journalists and writers claim that we should try to be careful,be warned about their Hillary Rodham Clinton as she is now a Senatorin the US Government. .. and is fighting to become President of the UnitedStates of America. It always reminds me of the newspaper
article inLe Monde, and how the French give the woman a turn but only as a woman, the French nation seem to hold up the virtues of feminity but avoid theawful disgrace of being referred to as "butch" "thick mick" or "as fat as afool", carrying the briefcases just like our male colleagues for 20 yearsI have listened to it all.Shining out like a star in Le Monde was a wonderful article on Politicsand I heard the other day that President Jacques Chirac of France isretiring ... who will take his place and fill his shoes. Maybe Chirac ofFrance plans to join me in retirement.Happy reading ... in Le Monde ...
