Holidays in Greece
People think that Greece is a lovely place, a paradise to spend their nice holidays and monies, to relax and drink some ouzo and have fun!
They do not know the other side of Greece though...they do not know that Greek people still do not care on how they will treat the tourists, they do not respect the monies they get from the tourists, they are not educated on quality customer service and Greek business people complain that they do not have people visiting Greece as before...this was expected from people who could see it years back!
Being a Greek myself but with an English mentality (thank God I was lucky to spend at least 3 years in England and higher my standards), I can not stand this situation in Greece, this fake “face” of a whole country who can not offer to the visitors anything….only the geographical situation of Greece is a positive point and brings people still visiting us…otherwise, we would still be 100 years back.
I can not understand that we are so “useless” with the simplest thing: providing nice customer service to people!
Lets see other things that are really annoying in Greece and we all have to try to change it – its time:
Smoking is everywhere. The taxi drivers just light up while you’re in the cab. No-one asks first if you mind including bar staff etc
Some cars are so old and pollute the atmosphere enormously while each driver in England would pay a fortune for the same reason!!!
Be very careful as a pedestrian – no car will stop on a “pedestrian-crossing” and will run you over – no one knows what this is in Greece!!!
Driving in Greece – forget the traffic lights and signs and then you can be a Greek driver.
Prices – take always a second look at the bill !!! you might get charged double and the funniest thing: no one will say “sorry” to you!! It just happened!!! Bloody machines!
