Insatiable creatures
Nowadays, the excessive behaviours are observed among our
societies: Bankers’ bonuses, eating disorders, celebrity orgies, street violence, and extreme commitment to political idea or religious belief and so on…
These excess are more in more present. Also following the new technologies and particularly with the Web: Sex, Suicide, drugs, violence, excess of alcohol and food are represent on our screens where many people stay hugely time. Our
behaviours show the excess and derives on our societies but reveal also our own fear. They are more shown that written.
They reveal our capacity to go in the fantasy, and our imagination without limit gives the impression that all are possible. Like our appetites to consume are without limit, we want all in the same time, we pass of one pleasure to one other. We have suppressed our capacity to choice because we haven’t less of choice to do. We want all rapidly. We don’t stop us in our consumption, like if we were unable to come back in behind.
Get rich was a goal to reach, today it’s again the case, but the means have changed. Like all is practice with excess, the frustration is more great. The longings are more important, like if we love to be punished. The psychiatrist called that “insatiable appetite” because that becomes the rules. These behaviours became widespread, and the majority of people adopt this way. There are some years, it was only a minority who adopt this kind of behaviours, we can cite artists, writer, clubber, and so on…
The values have changed the limits to reach too. Introduce the lack, the lack
intervene when you have satisfied you envy. For instance, for one gambler the lack intervene when he hasn’t enough money to play, for one junky the lack intervene when he can buy his dose, for one trader the lack intervene when he can’t bet on the stock exchange and so on… Like the hunger for the animals and greed for the human being, we are ready to do anything to satisfy our envies. Like said one author, the 20th century was the century of extreme, the 21 century will be the century of excess.
