Brian Jones a Poet has died recently and I read the Obituary in today's
Guardian ...He was born in 1938 and died in 2009
and is compared to Heaney, Hughes and Geoffrey Hill - his work was
published by Carcanet Press and latterly Brian Jones' Poetry was published in Poetry Review and PN and London Magazine. His major themes were solitariness, and the "darker areas of the mind". Brian Jones is survived by his family. I was at the University Library and I picked up a copy of the Guardian and flicked through the Obituaries and found this tribute to the late Poet Brian Jones.
On another more optimistic note today's birthday list mentions Honor
Blackman actress who is 84 - so Blackman is still alive and well so its a mixed bag today from the Guardian Reading at the University of Southampton ... hard work!
