Today in London I flicked through the pages of The Independaent and my attention was drawn to Britain's success :
Shelley Rudman wins the silver medal: at The Turin Games. Congratulations to
Shelley!
Although I
used to ski myself I, nevertheless, learnt the sport in Austria and for about ten years I was an active skier! It looks like a great win and everyone at home in Shelley's native town of Pewsey were cheering her on: people raised in the local pub ¢4,000 to send her to the Games!
I have always been a great fan of American Folk Music to include Country and I read too, the article about Dolly Parton, the Country Singer - she has achieved every sort of honour in the Music Business both in America and elsewhere; she has lured the Sixties star Mary Hopkin back into the /big time/ Mary Hopkin is 55 and apparently has been leading a quiet life since the heady days of her career in the Sixties.
Back to the religion slot: Chief Rabbi accuses Church of England - refers to IT as - anti-Jewish!
This is about the Anglican Protest about Israel. The Church of England backs disinvestment from a US company that makes bulldozers for the Isreali Army! There you have it in a sentence!
What's the point of Philosphy is a question posed in today's Independent! I studied Philosophy and I suppose it keeps the brain actively engaged in Socratic dialogue!! The Education Minister believes todays youngsters need /vocational courses/ Perhaps an ideal situation would be to combine the two. Read this space /// Bill Rammell!
When talking at dinner parties of my favourite
artist I always used to quote ...
PICASSO; one of this artist's portraits of his mistress is to fetch £29m /Dora Marr/ has not seen the light of day in 40 years! But then I guess, its worth the wait!
Last, but not least,
Car mechanics /charge/ more than barristers! Motorists are literally paying more than £100 a
hour! It echoes my own experience!
Mechanic: £49-140 per hour
Locum Doctor: £44-63 per
hr.
Freelance Journalist: £20 per hr.
Junior Barrister: £30-£100. per hr.
Good reading and incidentally look forward to your fee, like me!
