The Sunday Times

Newspaper Review by: SM THOMPSON

Sunday Times today offers the readers a new photograph - very elegantly portrayed - Of HRH Prince of Wales and The Duchess
of Cornwall - apparently the wrinkle prevention team are out and about to ensure that the ROYALS are glossed up! Camilla is wearing cornflower blue and Prince Charles is elegantly attired as well! The Royal look glamorous and young dare I say it!
There is the drop down page at the back of the whole contents of the already massive
Sunday Times, its a weighty job carrying this newspaper from A to B and I had to hire a taxi to get back to my apartment:
Back to the drop down page on Brigette Bardot! She is a great favourite of mine and I loved her film AND GOD CREATED WOMAN which was made when she was a young film star! She is now 71 and has given up her career as a film star and actress to devote her life to the care of animals - she owns a lot of dogs and offers a lot of her time towards this worthy cause; she suffers from arthritis and walks on crutches - but nevertheless she manages to live well with one of her many husbands! I often recall how rock stars of the 1960s used to refer to Bardot and all my male friends could look at or think of no one else! I felt like the forgotten woman at that point in time! All our male colleagues were great admirers of Bardot and her work! I was on holiday in France many years ago with family and Bardot made the headlines in the French Press - she was in a row with French State Authorities about walking her beloved dogs across a beautiful stretch of French coastline! Who won! Well, according to this commentary in today's SUNDAY TIMES ... BARDOT WON!
Looking optimistically towards winning: the Irish racer won at The Grand National yesterday and the name is very, very, long and is as follows:
NUMBERSIXVALVERDE and there is a grand photograph of Niall Madden celebrating winning at AINTREE! Wish I had placed a bet on that horse! Years ago I attended The Dublin Races with a group of friends and colleagus and my horse won me a few pounds .... I was so excited!
Everything's cheap on the internet, even talk and believe me that's true and long may it continue to be so!
The Queen is having her portrait/photograph created and there is an article which discusses all about
The Queen of England Elizabeth II she has her back to the camera! A new angle on portraits I guess!
Ah diddums - Labour flunkeys get little help from civil servants! I add to that I got a bit of help myself from Civil Servants but they never let you forget it ... only this morning I picked up on the Civil Service Suggestions and of course I am home and dry and number one in the UK in writing free verse! All hail to those worthy Civil Servants and their system!
Athol Fugard and his daughter Liza are up front in the Sunday Times: He is 73 known as the father of South African theatre and his plays including a special mention of:
SIZWE BANSI IS DEAD were compulsory reading during my training in England! Heaney notwithstanding - I have at last achieved fame - I hope to hand this great tradition onto friends and colleagues in Europe and America and indeed even Africa and Australia or Canada! HAPPY READING in today's Sunday Times ... when I go to heaven ...
