Deceased! Harold Pinter Playwright and Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature .. Nobel Laureate died
over the Christmas period ... Pinter had a long battle with cancer and I well remember reading all the interviews Pinter gave before his death .. on this dreadful illness. Pinter was 78!
He was a Sixties Icon and a great writer and I taught Pinter Plays at Southampton
University just over 10 years ago to my Austrian Students ......... Literature and I must admit I enjoyed every minute of it.
Pinter had a private funeral in London and famous faces were present including Sir Tom Stoppard who is also a famous writer and playwright and Stoppard, was chosen as Britain's favourite writer only this year by Waterstones Bookshops UK ........ I hasten to add that I was also UP there with the Greats i.e. writers and I was greatly honoured! (In 2008) and Top Writer with www.shvoong.com .. in the midst of this latest development in the Middle East Conflict!
His wife Lady Antonia Fraser survives him and she was at his funeral ........... as the chief mourner I guess .. The Tmes .. Newspaper carries a photograph of Harold Pinter ......... what a strange experience too, as 10 years ago I was teaching Pinter at University and now I am commenting on his
