Georgia Supreme Court Nullifies Voter Identification
In an unanimous
decree- the Georgia Supreme let stand
the Voter Identification
requirement for voting in the state. Based on an article written by Carlos Campos of the Atlanta Journal Constitution- the Georgia High Court mandated that a Fulton County judge vacate his September decision that suspended the Voter Identification requirement before casting a ballot as unconstitutional. An appeal ot this decison could come about within ten days. Speaking of the ruling, Secretary of State Handel said that the
decree- ``vindicates the state`s position on what she termed a `common sense` requirement.`` Speaking for the plaintiff in this case_attorney Jennifer Jordan said- `We think they kind of punted.` She continued- `They had an opportunity to deal with an issue that was very important to Georgia citizens and voters.` She noted her intention to request a motion for reconsideration.
