Caffeine Credited As Potential
Cancer Fighter
By: Tommy Elder, Jr.
A number of scientific investigations deduced that
Caffeine posses cancer fighting components. Tom Paulson of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reveals that
clinical studies suggest that caffeine posses cancer fighting components. He notes that- ``studies have shown that caffeine applied to the
skin reverses ultraviolent- induced
damage and prevents skin cancer.``
Although these
experiments come at the
early stages of investigations and mainly involve mice- research scientists note that- ``the basic biochemical evidence (suggesting) that caffeine can prevent some forms of skin cancer is fairly convincing.``
During their experimentations Ngheim and his collaborators targeted a protein that controls DNA duplications in each cell called ATR. He believes that ATR might serve as an excellent- ``target for therapy.``
Currently, Human Trials commence on these hypotheses. Nghiem states that early clinical experiments- ``indicate (that) caffeine not only repairs existing sun damage in skin cells, but the chemical that gives us our morning buzz also appears to reduce UV (ultra-violet rays`) absorption in the skin.``
In addressing this discovery- Nghiem noted that- `Well, we still don`t know if it will work in people.`
