Fur-Ever Friends of North Carolina is a non-profit organization that helps Sick and Injured Animals around the state. This
year, they will host a fundraiser in
Winston-Salem, NC that will benefit the Rico Fund. Rico was an 8-year-old Belgian Malinois, that served 5½ years with the City of Winston-Salem Police Department. After being diagnosed with lymphoma cancer, he was retired from the department and found a permanent home with Officer Tony Dunn. Officer Dunn was his handler while on the force and saw no other decision than to keep Rico and take care of him for the rest of his life. Sadly, Rico lost his battle with Cancer and the Rico Memorial Fund was born. The Rico Fund is alive today because of a very brave dog and his partner who put their lives in danger everyday to protect the citizens of Winston-Salem. The
Millennium Center in Winston-Salem has been generously donated by Greg Carlyle and the entertainment for the evening has been contributed by all the performers. The November 6th event begins at 6:30pm and attendees will be entertained by the 12M Case Band and DJ Nick Peluso of Nick Peluso Productions. Other activities include the Fur-Ever Friends of NC presentation of an original painting of Rico by local artist Raymond Reid to the City of Winston-Salem. The portrait will be accepted by the city’s Mayor, Allen Joines and Police Chief Scott Cunningham. The evening will be filled with a Pawsitively Pawbulous Silent Auction, a Pawtini Diamond Drop and the Kitties & Cats 50/50 Raffle. Boundless Food Stations, Beer, Wine and other non alcoholic beverages are all included with the $35.00 per person advance ticket price. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the event for $40.00 space permitting.
Citizens throughout the communities in and around the Piedmont Triad are being asked to put their best paw forward for the Paws in the City extravaganza. 100% of all proceeds directly benefits sick and injured animals.
