Former Atlanta Mayor Bill Campbell Prepares For Prison
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution`s Beth Warren, Jeffry Scott, and Sheila Poole- former Atlanta Mayor Bill Campbell will receive a thirty month
sentence from Federal District Judge Richard Story. Steve Sadow, an attorney with knowledge of Federal Court Sentecing said that the typical sentence in a
case such as Mr. Campbell`s merits prison terms of one year to twenty-seven months. Court observers in the case of Mr. Campbell`s stated that if the sentence only included probation then Mr. Campbell could claim a tremendous victory. To prosecute the Campbell Case- the United States Attorney`s Office spent six years investigating these incidents and allegations involved in the case. The probes netted ten convictions. Some of those convicted included several close
friends of former Atlanta Mayor William Campbell, who later turned in state evidence against him. Tragically, before his involvement in this whirlwind of scandals- political pundits considered Mr. Campbell as a rising star in National Democratic Politics and perhaps, a future Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate. Perhaps,
following his stay within the confines of the Federal Penal System- Mr. Bill Campbell can make a comeback and use his prodigious talents toward the quest for a better world. Many of his friends and supporters believe that he will rise again like a Phoenix following his debt payment to society.
