McKinney and Johnson Clash in Fourth District Congressional Race
As the race for the Fourth Congressional District of Georgia nears the home stretch- Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and her challenger former Dekalb County Commissioner Hank Johnson mine for votes. Ernie Suggs of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports on a spirited contest between these opponents. To portray the differences between himself and Congresswoman McKinney- Mr. Johnson started- `I can accuse her of being under the control of terrorists but I won`t` Johnson said, because of the money that her campaign has gotten from Muslim interests.`` In an accusation that the incumbent backs causing harm to Israel- Johnson said- `They are doing more than throwing stones.` He continued- `They are hurling missiles.` In her rebuttal, Representative Cynthia McKinney stated that the United States must remain an `honest broker.` She noted- ``that the United Sttes shouldn`t be giving support and arms to Israel to fight against Lebanon, and their fighters who are throwing rocks.` She asserted that- `We have to deal fairly with all countries. We have to deal with Palestinians, Israelis, Arabs, Muslims and Jews equally.` `All religious and ethnic groups have to be respected equally.`
