Johnson Jolts Congresswoman McKinney in Congressional Contest Controversial Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney lost the Democratic Primary Runoff Election to former Dekalb County Commissioner Hank Johnson. Extracted from an article written by Jeremy Redmon and Nancy Badertscher of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution- Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney conceded to Mr. Hank Johnson late on Tuesday August 8, 2006. According to Mr. Johnson- he secured the Democratic Nomination through his hard work. He said- `We went out to all parts of the district and met the voters and asked them for their support.` He continued- `And we shared our views with them. I think from that people began to see (that) Hank Johnson would make a good representative.` In a move toward reconciliation- the Democratic Party
nominee said- `I would like for her supporters to be our supporters.` As the vote tallying started Congresswoman McKinney complained of voting irregularities. Of this allegation- Mr. Johnson said that except for the problem of uploading some data into some computers he did not know of any other problems. He said `. . .it is well known there was a glitch in the uploading of the data from the voting machines.`` He continued- ``It would be appropriate that there be an independent analysis of what happened.` In the wee hours on Tuesday, August 8, 2006-Fourth Congressional District
representative Cynthia McKinney conceded defeat to Mr. Hank Johnson in the Democratic Primary for the Fourth Congressional Seat in the United States Congress from Georgia. Democratic Nominee Mr. Hank Johnson will face Republican Ms. Catherine Davis in the November 7, 2006, General Election.
