I found this in a local paper and I felt it made a point! I am like most people, unless it comes in my front door I am pretty easy to get along with. But what would we do if we was faced with a Bird
Flue Pandemic and this article could be bringing up a point that might prevent a federal disaster.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services estimates a third of the population could fall ill if the H5N1 strain of the Bird Flue mutates into a form that spreads easily from person to person. This has more fact then fiction. A National
disaster such a pandemic would influence many factors in our everyday world. We would be warned to stay away from all public places this will include all
food stores which this article
points out could cause a panic. Keith Hanson a outreach coordinator of the Nebraska's center for Biopreparedness Education, points out that the average person only keeps enough food for a few days at most. Worst scenario, we could be looking at a
crisis that has potential getting ugly fast. Making the food chain aware of these dangers could be
critical factor in preventing disaster.
This article points out clearly if a pandemic would hit having critical facilities open like power, water, food---becomes critical, to prevent panic! Over the last several years we have seen several federal disasters that should have taught us something. Learning a few survival tricks, like stocking up on food a head of time sounds good to me. After reading this article and feel I can walk away with a little more then knowledge then I did before and prevent history repeating it self.
