Renewed Violence - In the book
district of Baghdad today, a suicide car bomber killed atleast 28 bystanders and injured
many more.
The intensity of the blast touched off a firestorm of burning buildings, books, and flesh in this latest bombing incident after a relative calm in the city over the past few days.
There has been no particular group taking credit for this latest round of car bomb attacks.
Meanwhile, Iraqi and British forces raided a
government intelligence headquarters and found 30 detainees that showed various signs of torture. Among the group were two children and one woman.
The government says it will conduct an investigation into the matter and seek out those responsible.
In other news, sporadic gunfire around the city of Baghdad left 7 dead according to Iraqi police reports. It appears that most of the victims were pilgrims heading to an annual pilgrimage at holly sites located within southern Iraq.
