The Wet
Mountain Tribune is a weekly newspaper covering Westcliffe, Colorado, and as the web version boasts, it has been
“published every Thursday since 1883.” The Tribune includes the usual features found in small town papers – local news stories, classifieds, high school sports, police blotter, letters to the editor, etc. A fun and interesting section is called Peaks of the Past. This section gives news from 100 years ago, 50 years ago, 25 years ago, 10 years ago, 5 years ago, and 1 year ago. Celestial Exploring is the astronomy column – particularly
relevant in a
mountain town where you can still see the stars! Custer County’s Ephemeris is Tribune’s the calendar of events. Pet Connections lists lost and found pets. Court Report goes beyond the usual police blotter. Bookends, written by the County Librarian, is more than just a book review, she tells us why the books are relevant for Westcliffe residents. A scaled down version of the Wet Mountain Tribune can be found online, but most features are only included in the print version.
