An African Man in the Indian world.
South Africa, marked with different cultures and nationalities, is regarded by man as the rainbow nation, especially those who believe in working together, but not by the Indian community.
One
day I was driving from Johannesburg to Sandton, when I had a mechanical
problem in my car, I
asked a white man who was standing by the free way side to push me to the nearest
garage, the man was so helpful that I gave himUS$3 as tip. We were welcomed on arrival at the garage by an Indian man; he was so nice that I thought it was my day for
meeting good people only. He
told me that it was a minor problem and that he
Help me after an
hour since he was busy with another car, I told him that I was late for a meeting, its better I leave the car with him which he agreed. Soon after my meeting that took almost an hour, I rushed back to the garage, where I found the Indian man in his office and this time he greeted me differently. He showed me a shocking bill; equivalent to the amount I had just spent a week ago buying my wife a used car. I asked, how can he charge me US$3 000 for such a minor problem which he managed to fix within an hour? The Indian man, said money was his family name. I paid the bill and left angry.
It was almost two years later, when I was driving around Johannesburg in the Mayfair area with my brother. The timing chain of our car was broken, there was no option as this area is infested by Indians only, we approached another Indian man again who owns and run motor repairing workshop, it was late at night. He told us to come the following day for he wanted to buy the belt and fit it. We both agreed that it will cost less than US$50 and that if there is any extra problem he must contact us before he fix it. The following day when we went to fetch the car, the price was US$2000, for timing belt, which you buy at US$10.00 only. There was no room for argument again, so we paid him and take the car.
As an International Marketer by profession, I brokered for a deal between The Zambian buyer and an Indian supplier, my commission was US$2 per MT, and I sold 50 000MT of maize. The problem came when I asked for my commissions and the Indian ma disappeared without trace
Now only a month ago I meet another Indian man in Randfontein, he was driving a microbus, with somebody whom he claim to be his girlfriend, I discovered later on that she was just a prostitute being used by the man to make money. If you want to spend an hour with the lady you pay the Indian man US$100,
One wonder why the former deputy president of South Africa was fired, this is only after his named was mentioned in the scandals involving Indian man.
I am sorry if I offend anyone with this, this have nothing to do with Indian race or what, but it’s only what I have experienced with Indians.
And that he
