Foes of Former New York
City Mayor Giuliani Intend To Use His Record As Fodder
As he battles for the Republican Presidential Nomination in 2008- former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani outlines his stance on Immigration. Michael Luo of the New York Times reports that Mr. Giuliani asserts that when the border difficulties end- the
Immigration enforcers can then concentrate on illegal immigrants. He states on this issue- ``Those who are productive citizens, who have
committed crimes, should be able to come forward be given ID cards, learn English, pay fines and be given a chance at citizenship.`` At the other end of the spectrum- Mr. Giuliani advocates that the individuals failing to report to Immigration or committed
crimes ``should be deported.`` For his part- former Massachusetts Governor Mit Romney contends that carrying out the laws of the land will along with attrition witness illegal
immigrants going back home and eventually legal immigrants will replace them. Recently, Mr. Romney also launched salvos in New Hampshire and Iowa that called New York City under Mr. Giuliani `sanctuary city` meaning that it carries on a liberal immigration policy.
