Republicans Rate Senator Obama As Political Liability For Democrats
By: Tommy Elder, Jr.
Following the flap created by the controversy over Senator Barack Obama`s spiritual leader- Republicans now consider Illinois Senator Barack Obama as a political liability for the Democratic Party. Carl Hulse of the New York Times reports that Georgia Congressman Jack Kinston, a Republican- said of Democratic Presidential Contender Senator Barack Obama- `I don`t think he has connected with the average Joe. I do think he feels like we are bitter.`
Speaking on this topic- another Republican strategist i.e. Tom Cole of Oklahoma- the Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee- said of Senator Barack obama- `He is being defined more and more as a conventional liberal politician.`
Over in Louisiana, a political action committee called- Freedom`s Watch attempted to link Democrat Congressional Candidate Don Cazayoux with Senator Obama`s so called ideas of Big Government. On this idea of linking Senator Barack Obama with Democratic congressional candidates- United States Congressman Zack Space of Ohio, said that he believes this type of tactic will fail. He continued- `The people of my district are smart enough to figure out that kind of thing.`
As a kind of Match Game Strategy- some House Democrats started a campaign to link scores of Republican to presumptive G.0.P. nominee Arizona Senator John McCain. House Democratic Strategist, Representative Van Hollen said- `Our presidential candidates are spending so much time firing at each other that we haven`t focused enough on the big differences between the Democrats and John McCain.`` He continued- `We are going to make it very clear to voters that John McCain is George Bush all over again.`
