Democratic Presidential Contender Barack Obama Creates Health Plan
By: Tommy Elder, Jr.
Democratic Presidential contender Barack Obama unveils a Health Care Initiative for the people of the United States of America. Kevin Sack of the New York Times reports that presumed Democratic Party Presidential Nominee Barack Obama said that he intends to decrease the nation`s health care expenses by $ 2,500 yearly for the average household.
A number of analysts look skeptically on Senator Obama`s proposal stating that they doubt that substantial savings would occur in four years or even in ten years from his plan. If the Obama Plan operates- his economic advisers forecast that health care savings would accure from using automated medical records that could reduce cost by $ 77 billion yearly. By droping administrative costs in the insurance industry a saving of $ 46 billion annually would accure, according to Obama Campaign.
To cover the nation`s uninsured- presumed Democratic Presidential Nominee Illinois Senator Obama calls for mandating that insurers write policies for all applicants, without regard to their health condition. Generous tax credits would come to low-income workers under the Obama plan. Individuals could spend his/her tax credits to purchase the federal health plan or private plans published over a government exchange.
Partial financing of the Obama proposal would come through the repeal of President Bush`s tax cuts for people earning over $ 250,000 yearly. Additional savings would spring forth through the decrease in unnecessary procedures and improving ``electronic record- keeping, and through prevention and effective management of chronic diseases.``
According to a 2005 Rand Corporation estimate- a $ 77 billion dollars saving (wind-fall) could come about with a reduction in ``the number of unneeded procedures and improvement in electronic record keeping.``
