United States` President Obama Tells Europeans To Work Harder On Trans-Atlantic Ties

In his surge to cement relations with leaders in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Alliance- United States`
president Barack Obama noted that the battles to conquer Islamic extremists as one and that Europre could not afford to leave to the United States alone.``
Supporting the concept of working on a trans-Atlantic basis- French President Nicolas Sarkozy asserted that- `We can`t condemn the United States because they have that camp and then wash our hands of it once they close it.` He continued- `That`s not what being allies is about.`
On his turn at the lecturn- the United States` President Barack Obama noted- ``That the United States needed help in finding a place to send the 240 or more detainees still held at Guantanamo. European nations have said that they will take some prisoners.``
During the meetings- French President Sarkozy announced that France will not deploy any additional troops to
Afghanistan, however, he noted his nation`s intentions to provide additional funds, officers and police trainers.``
After the French revalation of her intentions in the fight in Afghanistan- President Obama noted that- `I`ve not had to drag France kicking and screaming into Afghanistan.`
As the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance will need a new Secretary General- Mr. de Hoop Scheffer`s tenure ends in the summer. Discussions of a succor focused on taping Danish Prime Minister, Anders Fogh Rasmussen. Many felt he showed skill in manuvering through the contyroversy over the publication of the Satanic Verses in Denmark ``of cartoons of the prophet Muhammead.``
