Apropos the much hyped meeting ( and subsequent developments in
the media) of the IRANIAN President Mr Ahmadinejad had at Columbia University
last week and also his address at the UN National Assembly, we
have now , a counter offer from the Dean of North Eastern University
in Iran (FERDOSI UNIVERSITY) to Mr Bush to speak on such varied
subjects like " Human Rights, Terrorism, Holocaust, etc." This
invitation was followed by the one from the Iranian President before
leaving New York, addressed to Mr Bush " to speak at the University
,if he ever traveled to the Islamic Republic of IRAN " .. It is another
matter to note that the Bush Administration brushed away the invitation
saying "we are not taking it seriously." In
another development seven Chancellors and Presidents of Iranian
Universities had sent a message to Mr Bollinger to answer 10
questions raised by the intellectuals and academicians in Iran, with
an opening paragraph denouncing his insulting words heaped on the
Iranian President (and the nation)when he went there to deliver a
speech at their invitation.However, the concluding para ended with ''
an assurance that Iranians are very polite and hospitable to their
guests ''. The ten questions raised are summarised below: 1.

views across at Columbia thereby negating the principle of FREE
SPEECH proclaimed.2. Why did US overthrow the IRAN''s National Govt in 1953 to support Shia''s dictatorship3.
