child labourers-the hightest rate in the worlpoorly enforced laws,poverty and lack of a social-security system are citited as major causes of the problem.the majority of child labourers work in the agricultural industry,while others work as rag pickers,household servants,carpet weavers,brick makers,and prostitutes.there are also a considerable number of children making bidis inhaling large quantities of harmful tobacco dust and chemacals,another hazardous industry employing children is that of fireworks manufacturing.in 2004,just before diewali festivalthousands of school children across the country held peacful marches calling for an end to child labour in the fireworks,industries.meanwhile in kanchipuraman estimated 4000 school-aged children work full-time in the silk industry.
