Wall Street Journal

Executives Display Diverse Electoral Loyalties - George Anders. Wall Street Journal. January 16, 2008. Page A2. When
you look at the amount of money spent on political campaigns each
election cycle it is easy to believe that corporate executives are
bunkering down in meeting rooms across the country, conspiring to
donate massive amounts of money to company approved candidates. This
thought provoking article by George Anders calls that belief into
question. Anders cites some interesting evidence, like the fact that
executives at Time Warner and Goldman Sachs are anything but unified
when it comes to making contributions to presidential candidates.
Anders acknowledges that cynics would say that the fact the corporate
employees are making donations to all of presidential campaigns just
shows that companies want to befriend whoever ends up president. But
Anders suggests an equally plausible idea, that corporate employees are
capable of making independent decisions when it comes to politics.
