NIGERIA:
FUEL SCARCITY HITS KANO
While
workers across Nigeria resumes to their various activities after the Easter and Maulud break, Kano, the Commercial city of the northern part of the country was hit by fuel scarcity since the beginning of his week.
On Wednesday when the two festivities break ended, motorist were seen joining long
queue at various
filling stations in Kano, the state capital, while workers and other Kano resident decided to trek to their various destinations as there is not enough fuel to use in their mobility’s.
Commercial motorist hike their charges for transporting people within ands outside Kano, while many others postponed their intentions for traveling.
As of March 27, 2008, streets of Kano were almost deserted as most of the vehicles were in long queue in various filling stations, while some stations could not have the fuel to serve customers.
Reports said, it is only in Kano city this phenomenon exists, as other Nigerian cities are not encountering the same problem.
Owner of filling stations interviewed said the fuel shortage problems lies on the hand of Nigerian government, and the Nigerian Petroleum Corporation, the allegation which is denied by Nigerian government.
