This question has been asked by many fans of gaming consoles.
If we look at the prices of the xbox 360 , the ps3 and the wii , we can evidently see that ps3 is the most expensive one.
Xbox 360 ranks second and wii is the cheapest of them all.Why is that?In my opinion I think this is because of the hardware which is used in all three consoles, especially the graphics card and the processor.
The wii has a 3mb graphics chip named (Hollywood) that is capable of generating 500 million polygons.Its processor however is low at 243MHz.
The 360 has a 10mb graphics chip named Xenos which is also capable of generating 500 million polygons per second.Its processor is 500MHz which is much better than wii's.
The ps3 features a 256mb graphics chip named RSX (Reality Synthesizer) which can generate 333.3 million polygons per second.Its processor is 500MHZ , like xbox's.
So what do the results tell us?Well it is obvious that wii has the weakest hardware(considering the graphics chip and processor) as compared to the two other consoles.
Playstation's RSX is stronger than Xbox's Xenos as it does more shader operations.
Apparently playstation 3 is the most expensive console of the other two because it's hardware is the best.(considering the graphics chip and processor), although xbox also has great hardware.
Let's return to the previous question.(Will the Wii u have better graphics than the xbox 720 or the ps4?)
Nintendo focuses on gameplay rather than the visual effects and graphics.It believes that graphics is not everything about gaming(I'm also a nintendo fan), which is also why wii doesn't have many hardcore games.Wii also has the weakest hardware because of this.
Although wii u is said to support hd gaming its graphics will be weaker than the graphics of ps4 and xbox 720 , because nintendo doesn't focus too much on graphics and they don't want their console to be too expensive.
So the wii u will have weaker graphics than xbox 720 and ps4 but I think it's a great console too.
