Seven unexploded bombs were found on Sunday on the site of a villager''s old residence in Jibu village in Ganzhou, east China''s Jiangxi province.
The rusty bombs were found when the house owner started building a new house on the site, a local newspaper reported.
The worker who found the bombs said that at first, he saw three, lying closely side by side. He mistook them for water pipes and knocked them heavily with a hoe. Digging them up and realising their real identity made him break out in a cold sweat.
Police later arrived and found another four.
Police said that Kuo Min Tang troops used to be quartered there before the founding of People''s Republic of China. Possibly troops had buried the bombs before they left.
