For any task in work life or personal life, we must concentrate and devote ourselves
to the task, and associate our mind and body, sincerely and fully. Also it is advisable, to pool the wisdom of several persons. If we work as a team, we can learn from each other, and the objective can be achieved smoothly. This book is a collection of essays published, interview conducted, and lectures delivered earlier by the author, in which he talks about various aspects of management. This book has seven Chapters. The first Chapter contains the main theme of the book, and gives five essays published in Asahi Shimbum, a Japanese national daily, during Aug 25 to Sep 22, 1990, wherein the author states that good achievement is possible, by completely devoting mind and body to study and training. As per Chapter 2, which gives four essays published in Shinano Mainichi, a Japanese national daily, during Jun 08 to Jun 29, 1986, he stresses on cleanliness, stating that it is the foundation of a prosperous society. The essays in Chapter 4 were published in Diamond, Japanese weekly during Jan to Nov 1991, wherein the author says that, people and not capital are the assets of a company, and that future of a manufacturer depends on research,
development and innovation, for which ideas are most important. The lecture delivered by the author, at the Donald Keene Center of Japanese Culture at Columbia University, USA, on May 08, 1991, forms Chapter 6, as per which we should put ourselves in the position of the consumers, be fair to them, and identify their needs, and design production and marketing to meet these needs. He also states that, resolution of complex and complicated issues requires discussion and consultation with many people. The lecture on Religion and the development of present day science and technology was delivered by the author at Berlin on Dec 16, 1991. As per the author, home life is the basis of creative work, and for correcting and changing others, we must first correct and change ourselves first. He also states that concentrating on the job in hand and actions thereafter, can lead to achievements. The appendix contains the Prince Shotoku’s seventeen article constitution, wherein at one place it states that, if we can find and position the right man for any job, then things will be in order. The reader is thus able to understand, as to how the author was so much
successful in his pursuits, and he can learn from his experience. The book is pleasing to read. Several words of Japanese language have also been used in this book. It is useful for the young readers.
