The ancient excellent writers usually expressed their worrying consciousness through the following three aspects: their anxiety
on the national affairs, their concern about people′s lives and their gloom on the failure to realize their own
aspiration. Their anxiety on the national affairs shows their enthusiastic social responsibilities; their concern about people′s lives demonstrates their humane emotions that bemoan the state of the universe and pity the fate of mankind and their gloom on the failure to realize their own aspiration displays their vain efforts during the flowing of time and their misery on their own fate. It is suggested that
the worrying consciousness should be derived from the Confucian Ideology, which preaches that the Confucian followers should always keep in mind such ideas as caring for the world and considering the mass as the essence in a country. Under the permanent Confucian influence, the worrying consciousness has accumulated into tremendous psychological power and innate driving force among the ancient men of letters. When they failed to perfect their morals and achieve their success in their political career, they swerved to another way, i.e., through composing works to express their consideration on the society and the outlook of life. In this way, they eventfully realize their spiritual eternity and their pursuit on the outlook of life.
