Survey of Research on Liturature in Tang Dynasty During the Later Period of 20th Century

In the late 1970s the academic research in mainland China returned to normal.Then,research on literature in Tang Dynasty entered the prime and it was generally acknowledged as the most remarkable and successful research field in ancient literary research.The advancement and harvest in literature research of Tang Dynasty are manifested in the following respects:1.The establishment of the learned society.The Socity of Tang-Dynasty Literature was set up in 1981 in Xi'an,which marked the entering of the Tang-Dynasty literature research into an organized and planned period of wide scope.2.Transformation of the style of study.The transformation in Tang-Dynasty literature research is manifested in sublating the thinking method of historical determinism and in regression from metaphysics to history.3.Opening-up of the research thinking way.The transformation of learned ideas changes the inclination of single value-judgement in the past which is replaced by the concern for phenomena,process and significance of literary history,which extends the research from a point to the entire area;the discussion about "cultural hot " and methodology opens the researching range and thinking way.Surveying the achievements in Tang-Dynasty literature research in the recent two decades,we can find that the research on writers is the richest aspect;in addition,it is also better in criticism of poetry,research on novels and other writings.
