From the year 1947 to 1948, the argument about the neo-realism in the literary circle in Taiwan was a historic exposure and
criticizing of the colonial culture of Mikado's citizens. Chen Ying-zhen and Zeng Jian-min found, sorted out and published a series of materials to make the history face the reality, from which can be seen that the theoretical
principles of the neo-realism is in accordance with the critical realism, neo-realism, socialist realism and the creation principles of
revolutionary realism and revolutionary romanticism set up and put forward by Mao Ze-dong. Everyone participating in the argument affirmed undoubtedly that from ownership of the territory to the cultural spirit and the way of the literary development, Taiwan is part of China. In the argument, an important topic was the literary communications between both sides of Taiwan Strait, a lot of participants expressed their own opinions, and the writers on both sides of the strait actively practiced and achieved a great deal. The argument has a great significance for carrying out the heritage of the neo-literature of the May 4th Movement and the revolutionary heritage of neo-literature during the period when Taiwan was occupied by the Japanese invaders, as well as for determining the direction of the literature of Taiwan.
